The Postman's Park .... A Memorial to Heroic Self Sacrifice

A real favourite gem of mine is Postman's Park, a short distance north of St Paul's Cathedral. The park was named after the workers at the General Post Office that used to be nearby up to the early 20th century. In 1900, the park became dedicated to George Frederic Watts's Memorial to Heroic Self Sacrifice, intended to commemorate the ordinary people who died saving the lives of others and who may otherwise have been forgotten.

"Bridget brought us to see so many surprising places that have such special memories for us, making our trip so worthwhile. "
